This watercolor of Studio #1 is just one of the many in colorful Spanish Village Art Center, a part of Balboa Park. Spanish Village is a haven for art lovers visiting and living in San Diego and contains the work of hundreds of artists and many types of media.
I exhibit my art at Studio #26; you can see me there many Thursdays.
For this picture of the Reflecting Pond and the Botanical Building in Balboa Park, I sat under the shade of the arches along The Prado, painting in plein-air. I kept taking photographs of the people as they were walking by and chose the people that were to be included in the painting later.
The Botanical Building was built for the 1915-16 Exposition in San Diego. It is one of largest lath structures in the world. With its pools, it is one of the most painted and photographed features of Balboa Park.
